Done!!!

I went to six different yarn shops during my vacation in North America and I only bought something from two of them. I shopped at Chix with Stix in Chicago, IL, USA and at Yarn Indulgences in Kitchener, ON, Canada.

There were yarns in the other stores I liked as well, but didn't get. For different reasons. Some were too expensive for me (the dollar is expensive at the moment) and I was limited in how much luggage I could bring on my flights...

While being out of town with boyfriend I had my mind set on visiting at least one yarn shop.

I wasn't looking for anything special but I had thought of getting some Malabrigo for a hat-and-scarf-set for my sister for Christmas if I found some nice colours. That didn't happen. They didn't have the kind of Malabrigo I was looking for.

I browsed around the shop for about ten minutes. It was crowded. And I had boyfriend waiting for me. Not the best surroundings for yarn purchases.

So I left without having bought anything.

I was in town yesterday between work and a knit-together. I had a list of errands to run (needes a zipper and thread as well as some stationary stuff) and went through store to store feeling more and more defeated... I got my sewing gear at my first stop but finding the exciting binders and fun indexes showed to be much more difficult. I couldn't find anything I liked (at a reasonable cost).

To cheer me up, I went to the big craft store to ahve a look around. It helped some... Even if I walked out of there without having bought anything. (Or maybe it was the feeling of success that had me smiling? It's more difficult to walk out of there without having bought anything than the opposite...)

Boyfriend and I were in town today to have lunch with my mother and to run som errands. While he went shopping for beer, I went to the biggest craft/hobby store in town. Walked around for a bit and was tempted to get some beads that were on sale, but decided not to get anything. I can keep quite busy with the projects I have at home at the moment. And all the projects I have already planned...

So, nothing bought this time!

When being out of town for work, I visited a yarn store without buying anything!

I had my mind set on getting myself something luxurious and local. But ended up with nothing. The yarns looked great, and I loved the colours, but they were far too scratchy for me, and not luxurious what-so-ever.

I did bring home souvenirs from other stores though; three different teas and a glass-pitcher. All local! (Well, I guess the black tea in itself wasn't local, but the blends were...)

I've decided to not count the times I attend a knit-together in a yarn store and walk out of there without having bought yarn.
